Busy week ahead and getting ready for vacation! This week we will be working on decomposing numbers 9-6. We will be coming up with all the different ways to make numbers using addition sentences. We will be continuing our Famous Americans unit with Amelia Earhart! We are wrapping up our unit on matter, solids, liquids, and gases. In Fundations we will be working on writing upper case letters. This week we are creating our Nativity boxes. Today we added the animals and talked about the innkeeper.

Another busy week! This week we are learning about tapping out (sounding out) CVC words. We practice saying each sound and blending the sounds together to make words. We also are practicing ABC order. In reading we have been studying Abraham Lincoln. We are working on writing 2-3 sentences and facts we learned from the book. We continue learning about verbs, too. In Science we are continuing with our solid and liquid unit. We read the story "Bartholomew and the OOBLECK" and tomorrow we will make our own oobleck. In Math we continue our measurement unit with weight. Today we practiced weighing different groups of objects in the balance scales. Tomorrow we will start decomposing numbers and writing addition sentences.( ie. 10= 9+1, 8+2, 7+3.....). In social studies we extend our famous Americans unit and learn about making a timeline and looking for locations on a map. In religion we have been learning about Advent and the Advent promises. We will also begin learning about the Nativity as we make our own nativity scenes.
We have finished all of our letter sounds in fundations! Next week we will be working on tapping out letters and sounding out words! In reading we are learning about George Washington. We read a book, wrote, and used our retelling skills. Our reading unit carries into social studies where we are learning about timelines, sequencing, and different places in the country. In Science we continue to learn about solids, liquids, and gases. We have learned the states of matter and practiced sorting different objects. Next is to watch objects change state! Advent has started! This week we talked about prayer using our five fingers, waiting for Jesus during advent, and the symbols we see. Please remember to send in a shoe box for your child's nativity scene!
